Begin your hike at the Kedarkantha Falls Trailhead, located adjacent to the Kedarkantha Visitor Center. The 1.7-mile hike to the falls takes about an hour, but you can also shorten the hike by taking the shorter, easier 0.8-mile trail to the falls. You can also hike to the falls from the Kedarkantha Village Trailhead, which is located about 2 miles from the visitor center.

Pack your lunch and head to the picnic areas at the falls or at the Kedarkantha Village Trailhead. There are plenty of spots to spread out a blanket and take in the views.

Trail route details (in brief) about the kedarkantha trek

  • Firstly, Reach Sankri via Dehradun. Here is the base camp for the kedarkantha trek.

Some of the scenic locations you will come across are Mussoorie, Naitwar, Mori, etc.

  •  Then from Sankri, One has to travel to Juda ka Talab. Take a rest here and head on to the final location, kedarkantha base, and then to Kedarkantha peak.
  •  Lastly, after the trek, come back to Hargaon camp and then to Sankri, and then back to Dehradun.
  • The trek will take around 5-6 days. Traveling, camping, staying, food, everything is taken care of by your trekking organization. You need not worry about these.

You must be physically fit and confident.

  • The best time to visit the kedarkantha trek is between December to March.


One of the best treks one can enjoy. Both are challenging and beautiful scenic. The kedarkantha trek is an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a challenging but rewarding trek. The scenery is breathtaking and the feeling of accomplishment at the end is indescribable.
